A serious firefox zero day vulnerability has just been reported. If you are a user of the Firefox or Tor browser, you may be in danger of having your personal computer hacked.
Yesterday, a zero day vulnerability was found in the Firefox Web Browser. The Tor browser is built on Firefox so is also affected.
The affected versions are Firefox 41 to 50 or Tor Browser containing Firefox 45 ESR.
The vulnerability has been highly successful in exploiting Windows systems. Mac OSX machines should be wary as It is unproved if it will affect them, however more dangerous variations will emerge soon.
To infect a computer using firefox or tor, you would simply need to visit a website that has had malware designed to compromise this vulnerability
What to Do
For the moment, until Firefox comes out with a patch, which should not take too long I advise all readers to not use firefox or tor browsers – switch to Chrome, or Safari, Any browser that is not based on Firefox.
